Ghana Airports Company Unveils New Board to Drive Aviation Hub Vision

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has formally introduced its newly constituted Board of Directors to staff at a ceremony held at Kotoka International Airport, Accra, signaling a renewed focus on infrastructure growth and regional aviation leadership.

The Board’s introduction followed a closed-door engagement with departmental heads and staff union representatives aimed at aligning management goals with the strategic oversight of the new leadership.

GACL Managing Director, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, commended staff for their dedication and highlighted recent strategic achievements, including the repurposing of Terminal 2 to handle both international and domestic traffic, and the ongoing resurfacing of Kotoka’s 30-year-old main runway.

“These accomplishments are a testament to our collective effort,” she noted. “We look forward to working closely with the Board to reinforce Ghana’s ambition to become West Africa’s premier aviation hub.”

Board Chairman and Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga, acknowledged the staff’s resilience in the wake of COVID-19 and reiterated the Board’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s aviation agenda.

“With the right leadership, policy alignment, and stakeholder commitment, GACL can become a cornerstone of West Africa’s connectivity and trade facilitation,” Mr. Agalga stated. He also praised the company’s return to profitability and called for continued unity and performance across the organisation.
