Sir Obama Pokuase and Fante Comedy Granted Bail but Remain in Police Custody

Social media activist Daniel Adomako, popularly known as Sir Obama Pokuase, and TikTok personality Prince Ofori, alias Fante Comedy, have been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court but will spend the night in police custody.

Fante Comedy was granted bail of GH¢100,000 with three sureties, two of whom must be gainfully employed. He must also deposit his passport with the police until further notice. He was arrested on Tuesday, August 12, alongside two others, over allegations of issuing a death threat and publishing false news related to the August 6 helicopter crash. His case will be heard again on August 25, 2025.

In a separate case, Sir Obama Pokuase was granted bail of GH¢50,000 with three sureties, two of whom must be salaried workers, including one government employee earning at least GH¢3,000. The activist was arrested on Wednesday, August 13, as part of intelligence-led operations against the illegal possession and public display of sophisticated weapons.

Police say Sir Obama is assisting with investigations into videos and images allegedly posted on social media showing individuals brandishing high-grade firearms. The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with other security agencies, has so far recovered a significant cache of illegal weapons and ammunition as part of the ongoing operation to dismantle arms possession networks.
