The Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) has expressed deep concern following a viral social media video showing disruptions during an emergency case at its facility.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 18, 2025, hospital management explained that a group of relatives and friends of an accident victim stormed the emergency triage, disrupting medical procedures and creating panic. During the chaos, a nurse on duty was assaulted.
Management described the assault as “unacceptable” and confirmed that the Ghana Police Service was called in to restore order, after which clinicians were able to continue providing care.

Safety of Staff and Patients a Priority
The hospital stressed that the safety and well-being of its staff and patients remain paramount, warning that aggression, interference, or attacks on clinicians jeopardise service delivery and put lives at risk.
It also reminded the public that recording videos or taking photographs of patients and clinicians without consent violates hospital regulations.
Juliana Haruna, Head of Public Relations, assured the public that Ridge Hospital remains committed to delivering quality healthcare, while urging relatives and visitors to respect hospital protocols and give clinicians the space to work effectively.
