NDC Opens Nominations for Tamale Central Parliamentary Primaries

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially opened nominations for its parliamentary primaries in the Tamale Central Constituency following the passing of the area’s Member of Parliament, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, in the tragic August 6 helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
In a statement signed by the Party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, on Wednesday, August 20, the NDC announced that nomination forms will be made available at the Northern Regional Office from Friday, August 22 to Sunday, August 24, 2025.
According to the statement, aspirants will be provided with a certified delegates’ list after undergoing the vetting process. The nomination forms have been priced at GH₵5,000, while the filing fee is set at GH₵40,000. However, in line with the party’s inclusivity policy, female aspirants and persons with disabilities will enjoy a 50 percent concession on the filing fee.
Meanwhile, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has indicated that it will not field a candidate in the upcoming Tamale Central by-election, citing respect for the memory of the late MP, Dr. Murtala Muhammed.
