Kwabena Agyepong Leads NPP Flagbearer Race for 2028 Elections

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyepong, has officially become the first aspirant to submit nomination forms for the party’s flagbearer position ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Agyepong arrived at the NPP headquarters in Accra on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, accompanied by a large group of supporters and party sympathizers to submit his forms.

The NPP opened nominations for its flagbearer slot on July 29, 2025, with the process set to close on August 28. The party has scheduled its presidential primaries for January 31, 2026, to select a candidate to lead the party into the 2028 elections.

In a related development, the NPP has expanded its voter register for the upcoming primaries. A circular from the NPP Headquarters, signed by Mr. William Yamoah, Secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, outlined that new categories of officials and dignitaries are now eligible to vote. This update aligns with Article 13(1)(11) of the NPP constitution and a resolution passed at the National Annual Delegates Conference on July 19, 2025.
