NPP Opens Registration for Additional Delegates Ahead of 2026 Presidential Primary

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the commencement of registration for additional delegates ahead of its upcoming presidential primary on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

In a statement signed by William Yamoah, Secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee, the party said the move stems from a resolution adopted at the National Annual Delegates Conference held on July 19, 2025, in Accra.

Expanded Eligibility

The new categories of eligible voters added to the party’s voter register — also known as the “album” — include:

  • Former regional and constituency executives
  • Members of the Council of Elders and Patrons
  • Past Members of Parliament
  • Former ministers and MMDCEs
  • TESCON leaders
  • Current and former external branch executives

Registration Process

Qualified individuals are required to register at their respective regional, constituency, or external branch offices. An online platform will also be made available to facilitate registration for members of the diaspora.

The deadline for registration is Friday, September 19, 2025.

Verification and Transparency

The party emphasized that only individuals who meet the outlined criteria will be allowed to register and vote. The Presidential Elections Committee will conduct a thorough verification and validation exercise to ensure the integrity and credibility of the final voter register.

The NPP reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, transparency, and inclusiveness, stressing that the process is essential to strengthening internal democracy ahead of the 2026 primary.
