The committee investigating the recent assault at Ridge Hospital has concluded that there is no medical evidence to support claims by Rejoice Tsotso Bortei, a rotation nurse at the facility, that she sustained a shoulder dislocation during the incident.
The findings were presented to the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
Bortei had alleged that she suffered wrist fractures and a shoulder dislocation following an assault by social media personality Ralph Saint Williams. However, the Committee Chairman, Dr. Lawrence Ofori-Boadu, clarified that medical examinations revealed no such injuries. “There was no evidence of fracture on her left wrist or dislocation of her right shoulder joint as documented by the medical records,” he said.
According to the report, the nurse reported her injuries on August 18, a day after the alleged assault. She was treated, given pain relief medication, advised to rest, and placed under psychological support care to aid her recovery.
Meanwhile, Bortei has filed a civil lawsuit against Ralph Saint Williams, seeking GH₵7 million in damages for physical assault and defamation. In her suit, she claims that Williams struck her with a clenched fist and a metallic cellphone, with further attacks allegedly carried out by his followers.
She states that she has since suffered chest pains, severe headaches, trauma, and panic attacks. Additionally, she accuses Williams of publishing a live video in which he branded her a liar, alleging she fabricated her injuries to “cover the nonsense going on at the hospital.”
The nurse argues that these statements have damaged her professional reputation, portraying her as untrustworthy and unfit to practice.
Beyond damages, she is asking the court to compel Williams to issue a public retraction and apology, restrain him from publishing further defamatory statements, and bar him from coming within 50 meters of her.
