The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has called for the comprehensive implementation of visa regimes that would make Africa a “common home for all Africans,” as part of efforts to deepen pan-African unity and cooperation.
Speaking at the orientation ceremony for Ghana’s newly appointed envoys in Accra on Monday, September 1, 2025, the Ga Mantse emphasised the need for reciprocal arrangements in immigration policies across the continent.
“Let us fully implement visa regimes that will make Africa a more common home for all Africans. This is an indispensable part of our pan-African agenda,” he urged.
He further stressed the importance of fairness in diplomatic processes, noting: “We must insist on reciprocal agreements, particularly in the areas of immigration requirements, timelines, and the fees and charges embassies impose when processing visas.”
Turning to education, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II expressed concern over the financial struggles faced by government-sponsored students abroad. He called on the government to establish a more sustainable and efficient system for the payment of their fees.
The Ga Mantse also underscored the value of cultural diplomacy, urging the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to actively involve traditional leaders in promoting Ghana’s rich heritage on the international stage. He explained that cultural exchanges could serve as a strategic tool to enhance tourism and foster stronger bilateral ties.
His call adds weight to the broader pan-African push for unity, mobility, and collaboration across the continent, while also highlighting the critical role of culture and education in strengthening Ghana’s global presence.
