The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, says the government has fully settled all financial obligations to the contractor working on the Ofankor–Nsawam road project.
He disclosed this during an inspection tour of the project with President John Dramani Mahama, noting that the payment of arrears was to ensure steady progress and remove funding bottlenecks.
President Mahama has already directed the contractor to complete the highway by June 2026, stressing that timely delivery is non-negotiable.
Reinforcing this directive, Mr. Agbodza said the ministry will hold the contractor accountable to the agreed schedule.
The Ofankor–Nsawam stretch, a key corridor linking Accra to the Eastern and Ashanti regions, has faced repeated delays over the years, leading to worsening traffic congestion.
With government’s renewed commitment, commuters are hopeful that the long-standing challenges along the busy highway will soon be resolved.
