UG Political Science Lecturer Prof. Alidu Mahama Seidu Wins Tamale Central NDC Primaries

Senior Lecturer at the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Prof. Alidu Mahama Seidu, has emerged winner of the Tamale Central parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He secured victory with 840 votes in a keenly contested race organised to elect a successor to the late MP, Alhaji Murtala Muhammed, who tragically died in a helicopter crash alongside seven others.

The primaries, held at the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, featured 12 aspirants, including three women, all seeking the mandate to represent the NDC in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Prof. Seidu’s decisive win was graciously acknowledged by his competitors, who congratulated him after Electoral Commission officials declared the results. His commanding performance, with over 800 ballots in his favour, confirmed strong grassroots support within the constituency.
