Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Issue Three-Day Ultimatum to Foreign Traders

The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has issued a three-day ultimatum to foreigners engaged in retail trading within the hub, demanding that they shut down their shops or face enforcement action.

The Association argues that the activities of these foreign traders violate Ghana’s investment laws, distort fair competition, and threaten the survival of local businesses.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, the Association’s General Secretary, Gifty Lovelock Naana Fianu, cautioned that if authorities fail to intervene, the group will not hesitate to enforce Section 27(1) of the GIPC Act, 2013 (Act 865) through citizens’ arrest.

“We are giving them three days to do this. Today, we will go round, humbly talk to them for them to understand, and then we will talk to their leaders on Wednesday. If they refuse to listen to us, that’s where we will bring in the authorities. We will send our letters to the police, give them five days, and then write a letter to all the institutions that are supposed to come in, and from there, we will do what we want to do,” she declared.

Meanwhile, Citi Business News reports that some affected foreign traders have already shut down their shops. A public announcement vehicle has also been patrolling the hub, issuing warnings to others who remain in operation.
