NPP Youth Organiser Vows Retaliation Over Arrest of Abronye

The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has vowed to retaliate against the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) following the arrest and prosecution of NPP-affiliated members.
Speaking outside the Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday, September 9, after Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, was remanded into custody, Mustapha angrily declared: “Power has an end, the tables will turn, and we will all have our revenge.”
Abronye, who is known for his fiery political commentary, was remanded by the court and is scheduled to reappear on Friday, September 12. His arrest was confirmed by the Ghana Police Service on Monday, September 8, on grounds of “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace.”
Although police have not released full details of the incident that led to the arrest, the case has sparked nationwide debate given Abronye’s political profile. His detention also comes in the wake of his applications for political asylum in eight countries—including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, Germany, and Côte d’Ivoire—citing political persecution and threats to his life.
As part of the investigations, officers searched the residence of former NPP Youth Organiser Moses Abor but did not find Abronye at the time.
The case will continue on Friday, September 12, when the court is expected to hear charges and determine the next steps.
