Court Grants GH¢50,000 Bail to NPP’s Abronye DC

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been granted bail of GH¢50,000 with one surety by the Accra Circuit Court. The ruling was delivered without justification.

His lead counsel, Daniel Mantey Addo, disclosed that Abronye’s health had worsened during his detention, adding that the bail ruling has brought him some relief.

According to Adom News’ William Nsiah, who was present in court on Monday, September 15, the legal team is currently working to satisfy the bail conditions to secure Abronye’s release.

The court had earlier remanded Abronye on Friday, September 12, for one week while police investigations continued. He was first remanded on September 10 following his arrest on September 8 over alleged “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace.”

His detention has triggered widespread public debate, with sections of the NPP describing the arrest as politically motivated.
