Five passengers dead after sprinter bus rams into parked tipper truck

A Sprinter passenger bus drove into a parked tipper truck at Atwedie near Konongo along the Kumasi-Accra highway, resulting in the death of five passengers.

The accident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, left eleven persons with severe injuries.

The Sprinter bus was said to be negotiating a bend but unfortunately collided with the stationed truck, resulting in the fatal collision.

The Fire Service was on the scene to remove passengers trapped in the wreckage. The victims have since been rushed to a nearby hospital for medical care.

Security officials were at the scene controlling traffic on the stretch as the work to tow away the wreckage.
