The Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom, in collaboration with the Ghana Christian Council (GCC) UK and Ireland, has hosted a Non-Denominational Thanksgiving Service and Community Engagement at the Freedom Centre International Church (FCI) in Welling, London.
The event, held on Sunday, 2nd November 2025, brought together Ghanaians from all walks of life to offer thanksgiving to God and celebrate the assumption of duty by Ghana’s new High Commissioner to the UK, Her Excellency Mrs Sabah Zita Benson.

A Celebration of Faith, Unity, and Service

The Thanksgiving service was attended by members of the Ghanaian diaspora, clergy, traditional leaders, community organisations, and representatives from both major political parties, the NDC and NPP — demonstrating the spirit of unity that defines the Ghanaian community abroad.

The event, led by the Ghana Christian Council UK and Ireland, combined moments of praise, prayer, and reflection with an inspiring message on unity, service, and the power of collective faith.

H.E. Mrs Sabah Zita Benson, visibly moved by the show of solidarity, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to all who attended and to the Ghanaian community for their warm support since her assumption of office.

High Commissioner’s Message

In her address, H.E. Mrs Benson thanked the Ghana Christian Council, the Freedom Centre International Church, traditional leaders, diaspora associations, political representatives, and the staff of the High Commission for their collaboration and encouragement.

“I am deeply humbled by your presence and your prayers. This outpouring of love strengthens my resolve to serve with humility, diligence, and compassion,” she said.

She reaffirmed her commitment to enhancing consular services, deepening community engagement, and strengthening the bond between the Mission and Ghanaians living in the UK and Ireland.

“Our diaspora remains one of Ghana’s greatest assets. Together, we can unlock its potential and drive the Government’s vision for inclusive national development. The High Commission will continue to bring its services closer to you.”

Building Bridges with the Diaspora

The gathering reflected a renewed focus on collaboration between the Ghana High Commission and the Ghanaian diaspora community.
The High Commissioner emphasised that her mission will be defined by accessibility, responsiveness, and partnership — ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of Ghanaians abroad are heard and acted upon.

The Mission issued a post-event statement, expressing appreciation to all attendees for their prayers, fellowship, and continued support.

“Together, we build the Ghana we want.”
