George Russell started from pole and fought early with Leclerc for the lead.
A virtual safety car on lap 11 allowed Mercedes to make a perfectly timed pit stop.
Ferrari stayed out initially and lost track position once they eventually stopped.
Russell and Antonelli then controlled the race to the finish, sealing the team’s first 1-2 since late 2024.
Oscar Piastri crashed on the formation lap of his home race.
Max Verstappen climbed from 20th on the grid to 6th after a qualifying crash.
Rookie Arvid Lindblad scored points on his F1 debut.
It was Russell’s sixth career F1 win and the first time he has led the championship after a race.
Mercedes appear to start the 2026 rule era as the team to beat, with Ferrari competitive but beaten on strategy and Red Bull chasing early in the season.
