Finance Minister Urges Parliament to Approve 2025 Budget to Drive Economic Growth

March 2025 – Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has called on Members of Parliament to support the passage of the 2025 budget estimates, emphasizing the need for key economic policies to foster national development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Post-Budget Workshop in Parliament, Dr. Forson highlighted several transformational measures included in the budget, aimed at revitalizing the economy and creating jobs.
Key Economic Initiatives
The Finance Minister outlined major policies such as:
✅ The 24-Hour Economy Policy – Designed to promote inclusive growth and job creation.
✅ The GH¢10 Billion “Big Push” Initiative – Aimed at investing in infrastructure projects.
✅ The Ghana Gold Board – To support foreign exchange inflows and boost gold reserve accumulation.
“We have outlined a number of revenue and expenditure measures in the 2025 budget to support the achievement of our fiscal objectives and targets. And we would like to call on this esteemed House, particularly my colleagues, the Members of Parliament, to support these measures and the passage of the various legislations that will operationalize them as soon as possible,” Dr. Forson stated.
Call for Bipartisan Support
Dr. Forson’s appeal comes as Parliament debates the budget, with expectations for bipartisan cooperation to facilitate the implementation of these critical economic policies.
