Controversial political figure Kwame Baffoe Abronye, popularly known as Chairman Abronye, has reportedly been arrested once again, adding to a growing list of legal confrontations tied to his outspoken political commentary.
According to sources familiar with the development, the latest arrest follows formal complaints lodged at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service.
The complaints are said to have been filed by former government appointee Richard Anane and a circuit court judge, both of whom accuse Abronye of making defamatory statements and allegations against them.
While details of the specific remarks have not yet been officially disclosed, the complaints reportedly centre on claims that the Bono Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman made statements deemed insulting and damaging to the reputations of the complainants.
Chairman Abronye, a known ally of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has built a reputation over the years as a fierce and often controversial communicator, frequently engaging in public commentary on governance, corruption, and political accountability.
His pronouncements—often delivered through media appearances and social platforms—have previously attracted both public support and legal scrutiny.
This is not the first time Abronye has faced arrest or legal action. This year, he has been invited and, at times, detained by security agencies over allegations ranging from publication of false information to making unsubstantiated claims against public officials.
As of now, the Ghana Police Service has not issued an official statement detailing the charges or confirming the circumstances of the arrest.
It remains unclear whether Chairman Abronye will be formally charged or granted bail in the coming hours.
