Nana Agradaa Vows to Return Cash Gift Amid Public Outcry Over Sammy Gyamfi Video

Accra, May 13, 2025 – Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, says she will return—and even double—the money she received from the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, following mounting public backlash and growing demands for his suspension.

In a live Instagram broadcast, the former fetish priestess turned evangelist addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video that shows Gyamfi handing over an undisclosed amount—reportedly $800—to her in what appeared to be a private encounter.

Agradaa pledged to return the funds publicly, stating, “I will return the $800 and even double it. I will do my best to find his office, and I will go there with my camera and show it to Ghanaians that I have returned the money.

She expressed concern that the gesture could jeopardize Gyamfi’s career, saying, “I will set my church on fire if I am the reason Sammy will lose his job. The Bible said we should do good to everybody… So, if Sammy Gyamfi gives me money, he deserves to do that.

The move comes amid intense political and public scrutiny, with the Minority in Parliament describing Gyamfi’s actions as inappropriate for a public officer and calling for his immediate suspension.

Responding to the controversy, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister in charge of Government Communications, accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of political opportunism.

Speaking on Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda Amadu, Kwakye Ofosu dismissed the NPP’s stance as hypocritical:
The moment the NPP jumps into this, you know that they’re just dabbling in opportunistic politics… This is not a party that has any respect for modesty or even decency in public office.

As public debate intensifies, the spotlight remains firmly on Sammy Gyamfi and the ethical implications of his actions under President Mahama’s newly launched Code of Conduct for Public Officials.
