Fear Grips Awutu Papaase No. 2 as Armed Land Guards Attack Block Factory; Two Arrested

Awutu Senya West, Central Region – May 21, 2025 – Residents of Awutu Papaase No. 2 are living in fear after a violent land dispute escalated into chaos on Monday. A group of about 20 armed land guards, reportedly wielding an excavator, stormed a block factory, firing live bullets indiscriminately in an attempt to seize control of disputed lands in the area.

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals linked to the attack, while a manhunt is underway for the remaining suspects.

Eyewitnesses say the assailants claimed ownership of multiple parcels of land, including the site of the block factory, resulting in a fierce confrontation with workers. Panic gripped the community, with many residents fleeing into nearby bushes for safety.

Factory Owner Accuses NDC Organizer

Dominic Oppong Atta, owner of the targeted block factory, narrowly escaped injury after stray bullets struck near him during the assault. He has since accused Salifu Adams, the Awutu Senya West NDC Constituency Organizer and an estate developer, of masterminding the attack by allegedly deploying land guards to intimidate and forcibly take lands from private developers in the area.

“They want to take our lands by force and are using guns and fear to drive us away. This must stop,” Mr. Atta told reporters, calling on the police to act swiftly to restore law and order.

Salifu Adams Denies Allegations

In response, Salifu Adams has categorically denied any involvement in the violent incident or the use of land guards to claim land. He dismissed the accusations as baseless and politically motivated.

The incident has heightened tensions in the community, with residents and developers urging authorities to increase security and clamp down on land guard activities that have plagued the area in recent years.

The police have assured the public of their commitment to arrest the remaining perpetrators and restore peace to the community.
