“I AM THE JOSHUA OF OUR TIME” – BRYAN ACHEAMPONG ON HIS AMBITION TO LEAD THE NPP
London, 9th July 2025 – In an exclusive interview on Hotdigital online’s morning show with our Valentine, Hon. Bryan Acheampong, four term MP for Abetifi, expressed his ambition to become the next flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing himself as the “Joshua of our times”, the new and unifying force, to usher the NPP and Ghana to the promised land.
Speaking candidly about his journey, Hon. Acheampong reflected on his unwavering support for the party and all its former candidates, including Dr. Bawumia, and indicated that Dr. Bawumia’s poor showing at the polls called for critical and factual analysis, which would lead any fair observer to recommend him Dr. Acheampong to be able to foster total unity and bring all hands on deck for victory 2028.
On the question of age, Dr Acheampong argued that at 52, he was old enough to be flagbearer and subsequently President of Ghana, insisting that his youthful appeal was a plus for the NPP as the youth constituted the majority of voters in Ghana.
When asked about the controversial issue surrounding the buying of SNITH hotels, Hon. Acheampong clarified that it was a legitimate and well-thought-out business arrangement in which a business he is affiliated with, the Rock City Hotel, which was started long before he was appointed as a Minister. He stated Rock City had the financial and technical expertise to turn those underperformed SNITH assets into profitable ventures. However, he noted that the situation became politicised, especially when his name came up as a potential running mate to Dr. Bawumia.
Regarding his candidacy for flagbearer, Hon. Acheampong expressed confidence in his chances. He firmly believes that he will secure over 60% of the votes in the upcoming flagbearership election, scheduled for January. “I have already closed the gap considerably since announcing my candidacy, and I have no doubt that I will win this election,” he said, stressing that the support from party members and supporters has been overwhelmingly positive.
Hon. Bryan Acheampong’s campaign for the flagbearer position is gaining momentum as he continues to advocate for a strong, united NPP that will lead the country to greater prosperity.
