Government Lifts Curfew in Nalerigu After Security Improvements

The Ministry of the Interior has lifted the curfew imposed on Nalerigu Township and its surrounding communities, following recommendations from the North East Regional Security Council.

The decision comes after significant improvements in the security situation and a strong show of commitment by local chiefs and residents to uphold peace in the area.

In a statement, Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak praised chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents for their cooperation during the curfew period. He further urged stakeholders to continue using dialogue and peaceful means to resolve disputes.

Authorities emphasized that security agencies will remain vigilant and continue monitoring the area to ensure lasting peace and stability.

The curfew, introduced on July 27, was a response to the tragic killing of two students of Nalerigu Senior High School by unidentified gunmen.
