Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, spokesperson for the NDC Congress Election Committee, dismissed the claims during an interview on Adom TV’s Badwam, describing Dzokoto as a valued member whose service should not be overlooked.
“It cannot be true the party neglected Kwame Dzokoto. We should ignore some of these comments,” he said.
Dr Otokunor maintained that the late entertainer had contributed to both national life and the NDC, arguing that his efforts deserved acknowledgement and honour.
“Kwame Dzokoto has served this country; he has also served the party. He must be honoured, and he will be honoured,” he stated.
He disclosed that the party had already paid tribute to Dzokoto at a press conference held the previous day. During the event, the NDC General Secretary led party officials in observing a minute of silence in memory of the deceased.
“During our presser yesterday, the General Secretary led in standing and giving him a minute of silence, and we are in touch with the family,” Dr Otokunor said.
He added that the party was maintaining contact with Dzokoto’s bereaved family and remained committed to recognising his contributions.
The comments follow public debate over the NDC’s relationship with the late entertainer and whether sufficient recognition had been given to his role in the party following his death.
