India Amarteifio, the British actress of Ghanaian and German heritage who played young Queen Charlotte in Netflix’s Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, has arrived in Ghana and described her visit as a homecoming.
Amarteifio shared photographs and videos from Accra on Instagram on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, alongside the caption: “25 years later, I am home!”
The post offered glimpses of her time in the Ghanaian capital, including local scenes, African-print clothing and an art-filled space featuring sculptures and crafts. At the time of writing, it had received more than 72,000 likes.
In one image, Amarteifio posed in a narrow lane lined with blue walls while wearing a white vest and blue sports shorts. Another showed her in a red top paired with an African-print skirt.
Her reference to being “home” appeared to reflect her connection to her Ghanaian heritage and gave her followers an insight into a visit with personal significance beyond tourism.
Acting career
Born on September 17, 2001, in Kingston upon Thames, England, Amarteifio trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, a London performing arts institution.
She began her professional career on stage and made her West End debut as young Nala in The Lion King. She later developed her television career through appearances in productions including The Evermoor Chronicles, Line of Duty and Education.
Her international breakthrough came in 2023, when she was cast as the lead character in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. The Netflix period drama is a prequel to Bridgerton and follows Charlotte’s early life and marriage to King George III, as well as her rise to prominence.
The role brought Amarteifio wider recognition. She was nominated for an NAACP Image Award and was included in Variety magazine’s 2023 list of 10 Brits to Watch.
Her visit places her among a growing number of international entertainers who have travelled to Ghana and shared parts of their experiences on social media.
In August 2026, American actress La La Anthony also posted moments from her trip to the country. Her visit highlighted Ghana’s appeal to people with personal, cultural and ancestral connections there.
Amarteifio’s Instagram post has likewise brought attention to her Ghanaian roots, with her message and pictures documenting a return she presented as a homecoming.
