Afua Asantewaa Aduonum was the Special Guest of Honour at the second Glamorous Women Awards, held at the Novotel in Montreal, Canada, over the weekend.
The event was organised by Brago Planners under the theme “The Legalities of Relationships” and brought together guests for an awards ceremony and live entertainment. Aduonum, a Guinness World Records contender, was among the central figures at the event, where she performed a selection of Highlife and contemporary songs.
Her appearance began after she had been formally introduced to the audience. Becca’s song “Woman” played in the background as Aduonum entered the venue and greeted guests who were seated ahead of her performance.
The music provided the backdrop to her arrival before she took part in the entertainment programme. She subsequently performed a set combining Highlife with contemporary material, adding a live musical element to the second edition of the awards scheme.
The Glamorous Women Awards are designed to recognise individuals and groups who have excelled in their respective fields during the year under review. Award recipients were presented with trophies and certificates at the Montreal ceremony.
The event was overseen by the chief executive officers of Brago Planners, Maame Brago, Delge Poaty and Paris Nyamekye. They described the second edition as a success and said they planned to expand the third edition.
Their comments came as the organisers marked the conclusion of the latest ceremony and looked ahead to the next stage of the awards scheme. The decision to develop the third edition follows an event that combined formal recognition with a performance from Aduonum.
The second edition was held at the Novotel in Montreal, with the theme placing relationships and their legalities at the centre of the programme. Alongside that focus, the ceremony recognised achievements across the respective fields of the winners and provided recipients with both trophies and certificates.
Aduonum’s role extended beyond receiving the designation of Special Guest of Honour. Following her introduction, she entered to the sound of “Woman”, acknowledged the seated guests and then performed Highlife and contemporary songs for those attending.
The occasion therefore featured three main elements: the awards presentation, the organisers’ focus on “The Legalities of Relationships” and Aduonum’s live performance. Brago Planners described the gathering as a successful second edition and confirmed their intention to build on it when the third edition is staged.
