Event builds on 2023 debut
KAVOD follows the inaugural edition, held at the National Theatre on November 26, 2023. That show established an approach that went beyond the format of a traditional gospel concert by combining several forms of live entertainment.
The first production used a stage play based on Nacee’s personal and professional journey. It covered his humble beginnings, the difficulties he faced early in his career and his eventual progress in the music industry.
The performance also addressed his work in both gospel and secular music, his contribution to political campaign songs and the challenges involved in establishing himself as a musician.
A fictional radio discussion, led by comedians Foster Romanus and Clemento Suarez, formed one of the notable sections of the show. The scene focused on public debate about Nacee’s collaboration with rapper Guru on the song Boys Boys.
The first event reached its climax when Nacee rose from beneath the stage in white clothing before beginning a live performance. Finalists from the Aseda Open Verse Challenge also took part in a medley of songs.
Among those attending the maiden edition were gospel musicians Sonnie Badu, Empress Gifty and Piesie Esther, as well as political figures and other stakeholders from the entertainment industry.
The 2026 show will retain the same core concept, bringing music, comedy and theatre together within a single production.
Standard tickets are priced at GH¢200, while VIP tickets cost GH¢300. Enquiries and ticket requests can be made by calling 0597143961.
The event is being promoted under the tagline: “KAVOD 26: Where Comedy Meets Theatre and Music.”
