An 18-year-old US-based Ghanaian, Michael Sakyi Jr., has been shot dead in a car crash in Manassas, Virginia, leaving the Ghanaian community in the United States and back home in shock.
According to the Prince William County Police, officers responding to a reported car crash on Community Drive on June 25 found Sakyi in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that had collided with a parked car.
He had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations into the tragic shooting, detectives tracked down and arrested a 21-year-old suspect, Jamal Dana Allen.
He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
The suspect is currently being held in custody without bond while the police investigation continues.
The tragic news has thrown members of the online community into deep mourning, with many sending prayers to the family.
