The Accra Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested two brothers in connection with the shooting of a 54-year-old car dealer and the injury of his wife at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija.
The deceased, identified as Mohammed Rahman, and his 53-year-old wife, Christiana Fosu, were returning home from an evening walk when Adams Adder Almeida opened fire on them at the entrance to their four-bedroom apartment.
The incident, which occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, left Mr Rahman critically injured. He was rushed to Finney Hospital in Weija, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His wife was subsequently referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where she remains on admission and is responding to treatment.
The shooting triggered an intensive police investigation and manhunt, which led to the arrest of Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon, with assistance from the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET).
According to the police, Adams admitted during interrogation to shooting the couple, saying the deceased car dealer had repeatedly described him as “lazy and useless”, comments he claimed had affected him mentally.
Following his arrest, Adams allegedly led investigators to his brother’s room at Beach Drive Estate, where a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered from beneath a well drop.
Police investigations further established that Adams and Bala, who works with the deceased, live together in the same room at Tuba.
Adams reportedly told investigators that the pistol had been given to him by a friend identified as Gideon.
He subsequently led the police to Gideon’s residence at Tuba, but the suspect was nowhere to be found.
