Newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) national executives have come under scrutiny after First Vice Chairman Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo “Bamba”, was not seen in photographs from their visit to former President John Agyekum Kufuor.
The delegation, led by NPP National Chairman John Boadu, called on Mr Kufuor at his residence on 8 October 2026.
The visit was intended to formally introduce the party’s new national leadership and seek guidance from the former president as they begin their mandate.
In a Facebook post, the party’s 2nd Vice Chairman, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, outlined the purpose of the meeting.
“Today, we, the newly elected National Executives of the New Patriotic Party, led by our National Chairman, Mr John Boadu, paid a courtesy call on former President H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor at his residence to formally introduce ourselves and seek his guidance as we begin our mandate,” he said.
However, social media users again pointed out that Kojo Bamba did not appear in any of the photographs shared online from the visit.
It is the second time his absence from an engagement involving the party’s new leadership has prompted questions.
A similar situation arose when the executives visited the party’s presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. Kojo Bamba was not present at that meeting either.
He later said he had been unable to attend because he had other important commitments.
“I had other engagements; that was why I couldn’t attend the meeting. I was aware of the meeting because I was informed,” he said.
“I asked for permission from the leadership, and I was permitted. So there is no bad blood between the leadership and me.”
Despite that explanation, some members of the public have continued to question why he was not present during the visit to Mr Kufuor.
Some have suggested that the newly elected First Vice Chairman may have been sidelined by the party, despite winning his position.
Others believe that his absence from another high-profile engagement involving the new executives could indicate that there is more to the situation than the explanation he previously gave.
The latest concerns followed the publication of photographs from the meeting with the former president, in which the other members of the delegation were visible but Kojo Bamba was not.
