Ghanaian dancehall and reggae musician Stonebwoy has hit back at media personality Kwabena Bobie Ansah over what he regards as a disrespectful comment about his character.
Stonebwoy questioned why Bobie Ansah had chosen to make personal remarks about him without, in his view, any clear justification. He said his response demonstrated that he was able to confront anyone, anywhere and at any time when he felt it was necessary.
The award-winning musician added that he does not hold grudges or wait for an ideal opportunity before addressing criticism. Instead, he said he speaks when he believes the circumstances require it, rather than allowing other people to determine when he should respond.
Stonebwoy also acknowledged that he could have answered the alleged attack with stronger language, including insults. However, he said he deliberately chose not to do so because he believed that approach would serve no useful purpose.
Explaining his measured response, Stonebwoy said his respect for older people influenced the way he handled the matter. He noted that he has uncles around Bobie Ansah’s age whom he respects deeply.
The musician said his intention was not to turn the disagreement into a personal feud. Rather, he wanted to challenge what he viewed as an attempt to present conduct that conflicts with Ghanaian society’s moral values as acceptable or worthy of praise.
Stonebwoy’s comments followed the remark by Bobie Ansah, which he considered an attack on his personality. While making clear that he could defend himself when required, he said he had opted for wisdom and restraint instead of responding with equally harsh words.
