President Mahama Orders Reversal of Foreign Affairs Ministry Land Allocations

Accra, March 5, 2025 – President John Dramani Mahama has directed the immediate reversal of all land allocations and sales involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ property made by the previous administration.

The decision aims to preserve the Ministry’s adjoining land at Airport Residential, which had been allocated to seven organisations and individuals claiming ownership.

Ablakwa Confirms Presidential Directive

Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced the directive in a Facebook post, expressing gratitude to President Mahama for his patriotic and decisive leadership.

“President Mahama has directed that all allocations and sales of land belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the previous government be immediately reversed. This ensures that the Ministry’s adjoining land at Airport Residential—which some organisations and individuals claimed as new owners—will now be cancelled and preserved for the people of Ghana,” he stated.

Commitment to Protecting State Assets

Ablakwa reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding government property, both locally and internationally, and vowed that under his leadership, no assets belonging to the Ministry would be sold.

“Under my watch as Foreign Minister, no land or property of the Ministry, whether in Ghana or abroad, will be sold. No more State Capture! For God and Country. Ghana First.” he added.

Reclaiming Public Lands

This directive follows growing concerns about state lands being allocated to private individuals and organisations. The government’s move signals a strong stance against the sale of public assets and a commitment to reversing questionable transactions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is expected to take immediate steps to enforce the reversal and reclaim the lands in question.
