The Ghana Police Service is investigating the interception of two buses carrying 88 people near Benchema in the Western North Region on December 3, 2024. The passengers, allegedly recruited from Greater Accra communities, were reportedly en route to provide unauthorized polling station security.

The operation was uncovered during a routine patrol, and the individuals are now in police custody to assist with investigations. Authorities are searching for “Sammy,” the alleged recruiter, who may provide insights into the operation’s motives.

The police emphasized that electoral security is exclusively managed by trained personnel to maintain neutrality and professionalism. Measures are being reviewed to prevent unauthorized involvement at polling stations, with a public appeal for information to ensure a fair and credible electoral process.
