NPP Denies Contacting A-Plus Over Parliamentary Alliance

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has dismissed allegations by social commentator Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, that the party approached him for a potential alignment in Parliament.

In an official statement, Mr. Frimpong clarified, “The NPP has not met with A-Plus, nor has it authorized anyone to convey any message to him on its behalf.”

A-Plus’ Allegations

A-Plus, in a social media post, claimed that the NPP, through Kennedy Agyapong, had proposed a collaboration with him in Parliament. He alleged that the proposal included an assurance that the party would not contest the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections.

Additionally, A-Plus mentioned that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had invited him for a meeting scheduled for the following morning. He expressed a leaning toward the NDC but emphasized that his ultimate decision would depend on which party prioritized his interests and those of Gomoa Central residents.

“I will have to disappoint someone tomorrow,” A-Plus wrote. “Deep down, my heart leans toward the NDC, but I will side with whoever provides the best offer for me and my people.”

NPP’s Response

The NPP firmly denied A-Plus’ claims, emphasizing that the party has made no such overtures and has not authorized any representative to engage with him. The statement further suggested that A-Plus’ comments about a potential alliance hold no basis.

The NPP’s response underscores its stance on the issue and dismisses any speculation about collaborations involving A-Plus or his alleged dealings with either political party.
