High Court Orders Recollation of Election Results in Ablekuma North and Nsawam-Adoagyiri

The High Court has directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to recollate and declare the results of the parliamentary elections in the Ablekuma North and Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituencies following disputes over the initial declarations.
The ruling, delivered on Friday, December 20, by Justice Joseph Adu Owusu Agyeman, came in response to petitions filed by parliamentary candidates from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The candidates alleged significant anomalies in the collation and declaration processes in both constituencies.
Justice Agyeman ordered the EC to immediately proceed with the recollation of results for the Ablekuma North constituency. Legal objections raised by NDC counsel Godwin Edudzi Tamaklo and NPP counsel Gary Nimako, representing Frank Annoh-Dompreh, were both overruled.
The ruling marks a significant step in resolving the disputes surrounding the election results in these constituencies, ensuring transparency and accuracy in the electoral process. The EC has yet to announce a timeline for the recollation and subsequent declarations.
