NACOC, FDA Dismantle Illegal Cannabis-Infused Alcohol Factory in Offinso

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) have uncovered and shut down an illegal production facility for cannabis-infused alcoholic beverages hidden within a poultry farm in the Offinso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The joint operation, carried out at Ntiribuoho, exposed a covert two-bedroom production site situated inside the poultry farm. According to intelligence reports, the facility was being used to produce Famude, a cannabis-laced liqueur also sold under the brand name Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur.
A team of seven officers—four from NACOC and three from the FDA—executed the raid. Authorities seized large quantities of unapproved alcoholic products and suspected narcotic substances. One individual was arrested at the scene, while other suspects managed to escape and are currently being pursued by security forces.

Authorities Warn Public on Dangers of Illegal Products
Officials from NACOC and the FDA stressed that the production and sale of such unlicensed and unregulated substances pose significant risks to public health and are in violation of Ghana’s drug and food safety laws.
“This operation underscores our joint resolve to clamp down on the distribution of harmful and illegal substances in our communities,” an FDA spokesperson noted. “We are intensifying surveillance and enforcement across the country.”
The agencies are urging Ghanaians to avoid consuming such products and to report suspicious activities that may threaten public health and safety.
The arrested suspect remains in custody, assisting with investigations, as authorities continue efforts to apprehend the remaining individuals behind the illicit operation.
