Bole, Ghana – June 6, 2025
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has officially commissioned a new regional office in Bole, which will now serve as the Savannah Regional Office. This strategic development is set to enhance access to essential licensing and vehicle registration services for residents of Bole and its surrounding communities, who previously had to travel long distances to Tamale or Wa.

The new facility was inaugurated in a ceremony attended by top government officials, traditional leaders, and residents of Bole. The initiative is expected to reduce the dependence on middlemen and combat widespread fraudulent practices in licensing and registration.
CEO Cautions Against Fraud and Middlemen
Speaking at the commissioning, DVLA Chief Executive Officer Julius Neequaye Kotey warned the public to avoid using unapproved agents or middlemen for DVLA services. He emphasised that official procedures are straightforward and affordable:
“Let me state that, you don’t have to deal with a third party to access our services. Just walk in, pay our approved rates and you will be served better.”
He also issued a stern warning to DVLA staff against engaging in illegal practices:
“Let me caution the public that engaging with middlemen or paying unofficial fees is illegal and I will not hesitate to deal with any staff who engages in such illegality.”
MP and Deputy Minister Pledges Support for Discipline
Yussif Sulemana, Member of Parliament for Bole and Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, echoed the call for professional conduct among the staff and warned of serious consequences for misconduct:
“Anyone who misbehaves at this office, especially the natives who’ve been given the opportunity to work here, should know that I will not hesitate to support the CEO and the institution’s rules to take action, including dismissal.”
Sulemana expressed appreciation to both CEO Julius Neequaye Kotey and former President John Dramani Mahama for supporting development in the region, which he noted would also open up employment and administrative opportunities.
“I encourage all residents to take advantage of this office and acquire their documents here, so they avoid harassment from the police for not having proper documentation,” he urged.
Paramount Chief Donates Land for Future Expansion
In a show of strong community support, Bolewura Safo Kutugefeso, Paramount Chief of the Bole Traditional Area, allocated a 16-acre parcel of land for the construction of an ultramodern DVLA complex in the future. This gesture underscores the traditional leadership’s commitment to long-term infrastructural development in the Savannah Region.
The establishment of the Bole DVLA office is being hailed as a significant milestone in improving governance, reducing corruption, and bringing public services closer to the people.
