Greater Accra Regional Minister Criticises Underperforming MMDCEs

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has issued a stern rebuke to some Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region, accusing them of inefficiency and complacency in the discharge of their duties.

Addressing the media and MMDCEs in Accra on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Madam Ocloo said the poor performance of certain chief executives was undermining government’s efforts to resolve the region’s pressing developmental challenges.

“Let me go straight to say that I am disappointed at the level of inefficiency and complacency exhibited by some of our chief executives. At this stage, excuses are nothing but an embarrassment to the people we serve,” she stated.

She stressed that leadership should not be equated with occupying office or enjoying privileges, but with delivering tangible results.

“Leadership is not about sitting in offices and enjoying the perks of your position. It is about delivering results, and right now, many of you are simply sleeping on the job,” the Minister cautioned.

Her comments are expected to intensify pressure on underperforming MMDCEs, as calls for accountability and improved service delivery in the region continue to mount.
