Stephen Appiah Rallies Black Stars Ahead of Crucial Madagascar Clash

Morocco, March 24, 2025 – Stephen Appiah, Vice Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, has expressed his full support for the national team as they gear up for a pivotal clash against Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
His endorsement follows Ghana’s emphatic 5-0 triumph over Chad, a performance that propelled the four-time African champions to the top of Group I with 12 points from five matches.
Appiah’s Inspirational Message to the Team
Addressing the players at their hotel in Morocco, Appiah delivered a passionate speech, emphasizing the significance of the moment and urging them to stay mentally prepared.
“We believe in you, and we know that you guys are going to do it. We are talking about the World Cup. Make yourself proud and make Ghana proud. We wish you the best of luck.”
The former Black Stars captain, who led Ghana to their historic first World Cup appearance in 2006, reminded the team of the weight of the jersey they wear. He cautioned that the upcoming match against Madagascar will be a different challenge from the Chad game, urging the players to adapt their mindset accordingly.
“You know the game that you will be playing against Madagascar will be different from the game you played against Chad because they have a different style of play. So, you just have to tune your mind.”
Ghana’s Qualification Pathway
With their recent victory over Chad, the Black Stars hold a two-point lead over second-placed Madagascar (10 points). Comoros (9 points) trails in third, while Mali (8 points) is fourth. Central African Republic remains in fifth place with 4 points.
A win against Madagascar on Monday, March 24, would provide the Black Stars with a comfortable cushion at the top of Group I, inching them closer to securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghanaians will be eagerly watching as the Black Stars take on Madagascar, hoping for another dominant performance to solidify their qualification hopes.
