The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has firmly denied reports suggesting that it is considering the sale of its newly constructed headquarters, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a press release issued on June 2, 2026, the central bank responded to a publication by MyJoyOnline dated June 1, 2026, which alleged that the Bank was contemplating the sale of its new $260 million headquarters.
According to the Bank, there are no discussions, plans, or considerations underway regarding the sale of the facility. It stressed that the headquarters remains a vital asset that was commissioned to support the institution’s operations and improve efficiency in the discharge of its statutory mandate.
“The Bank is not considering, discussing, or planning the sale of its new headquarters,” the statement emphasised, dismissing the publication as inaccurate.
The central bank further cautioned the public and media organisations against relying on unverified reports, noting that such publications could undermine confidence in Ghana’s financial system and create unnecessary uncertainty within the markets.
The Bank of Ghana reiterated its commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement, assuring the public that all official communications are disseminated through its recognised channels, including its official website, verified social media platforms, press releases from its Communications Department, and statements signed by the Secretary of the Bank.
It also urged journalists and media houses to seek clarification directly from the institution before publishing information relating to its operations, in order to ensure accuracy and avoid the spread of misinformation.
The statement was issued by the Communications Department of the Bank of Ghana and reaffirmed the institution’s resolve to maintain public trust and confidence in the country’s financial sector.
