Following their appearance on HotDigitalOnline’s Full Circle programme, representatives of the Ghana Property & Lifestyle Expo prepare for this weekend’s London event.
Representatives of the Ghana Property & Lifestyle Expo joined HotDigitalOnline’s Full Circle programme last week. This Friday and Saturday, the event comes to London, offering visitors an opportunity to explore property, finance and relocation options in Ghana.
The expo takes place on 16–17 October at the Business Design Centre in Islington, from 10am to 6pm daily. Free tickets are listed, with registration through the organisers.
For Ghanaians abroad, a home in Ghana can represent years of work and sacrifice. It might be somewhere to retire, a base for family visits or an investment for the future.
That makes understanding the purchase just as important as choosing the property.
Go with questions as well as dreams
The organisers say visitors can learn about ownership structures, legal requirements, financing, taxes and the checks needed before investing.
Meeting representatives face-to-face gives buyers space to ask questions, gather information, and compare options.
Treat those conversations as the start of your research. A professional presentation or participation in an exhibition does not replace independent checks on a property.
What exactly are you buying?
A completed house, an apartment under construction and a plot of land each raise different questions.
Before paying, ask for written details covering:
- Ownership: Who has authority to sell, and what interest in the property would you acquire?
- The full price: What is included, what costs extra and which currency governs the agreement?
- Completion: For an unfinished development, what are the deadlines and what happens if construction is delayed?
- Payment terms: When are deposits and instalments due, and when would a refund be possible?
- Continuing costs: What maintenance, service charges or management fees would apply?
Ask for explanations you understand. Important promises should be checked against the contract.
Have someone independent on your side
UK government guidance recommends independent legal advice when buying abroad and highlights that purchasing procedures may differ from those familiar to buyers in Britain.
For a purchase in Ghana, ask an independent Ghana-qualified property lawyer to explain the agreement and arrange the appropriate ownership, land records, and other checks.
If you are buying remotely, arrange an independent inspection. Family support can be valuable, but professional legal and technical checks serve a separate purpose.
A retirement home and a rental investment need different thinking
Be clear about what you want the property to do.
If it is for retirement, consider access to healthcare, transport, shops and the people you want nearby.
If it is for rental income, ask what supports any earnings forecast. Allow for empty periods, repairs and management costs rather than assuming the advertised rent will all be yours to keep.
The right purchase should fit your plans and finances.
