The Eastern Region has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of Isaac Batsa Hamillin, the Akuapem North Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who was reportedly found dead in a guest house at Amanokrom in the Akuapem area.
Hamillin, who also served as the Municipal DRIP Coordinator, is said to have passed away on Tuesday afternoon under circumstances that remain unclear.
Sources close to the incident indicated that the deceased was discovered lifeless in a room at a guest house in Amanokrom, sparking shock among party supporters, residents, and political figures within the constituency.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact cause of death had not been officially disclosed, while details surrounding the circumstances leading to his death remain sketchy.
His sudden passing has triggered grief within the NDC fraternity in the Eastern Region, where he was widely known for his active involvement in constituency organisation and grassroots political activities.
Isaac Batsa Hamillin reportedly played a key role in coordinating party activities in Akuapem North and was also involved in the implementation of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) within the municipality.
The incident has further deepened concerns over a series of tragic deaths involving political actors and public officials in the Eastern Region in recent weeks.
His death comes barely 48 hours after another politically linked tragedy involving Kofi Nti, a Special Aide to the Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda, who reportedly died in a fatal road crash while monitoring the New Patriotic Party’s ongoing polling station elections.
That incident generated widespread reactions across political circles after reports indicated that the deceased was undertaking party-related monitoring activities before the accident occurred.
Earlier in April, the region was also shaken by the death of Kenneth Anim, the former Eastern Regional Coordinator of the Free SHS Secretariat, who reportedly lost his life in another tragic accident on the Adukrom-Koforidua road.
The succession of deaths involving political figures and government-linked officials has heightened public anxiety across parts of the region, with many residents expressing concern over the recent spate of tragedies.
Although there is currently no indication linking the incidents, the back-to-back losses have left both political parties and local communities mourning prominent personalities connected to governance and political administration.
The Akuapem North Constituency branch of the NDC is yet to release an official statement on the death of its constituency secretary, while party members continue to gather in shock following news of the incident.
Meanwhile, many supporters have taken to social media to express condolences and pay tribute to the late Isaac Batsa Hamillin, describing his death as a painful loss to the party and the municipality.
